The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has accused six British diplomats of spying and “subversive activities”. As a result, the decision has been made to withdraw their accreditation, effectively expelling them from Russia, as reported by Russian state television, which cited an FSB official.
According to the FSB, evidence was obtained suggesting that the diplomats were dispatched to Russia by a specific division of the UK Foreign Office, which the FSB claims is primarily tasked with inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia.
The security service further alleged that these individuals were involved in “intelligence-gathering and subversive activities” while in the country.
This development comes on the heels of a joint announcement by the United States and Britain, pledging an additional $1.5 billion in aid to Ukraine.
Concurrently, Ukrainian officials have renewed their calls for permission to use Western-supplied missiles to strike targets located deeper within Russian territory.
