American football team Kansas city Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes announced that he will not endorse any candidate in the upcoming presidential election.
“I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way,” Mahomes said, as quoted by CNN.
This announcement came after US former President Donald Trump publicly praised his wife, Brittany Mahomes and told the morning Fox and friends show that Brittany is a fan of him.
“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan,” Trump said and added “I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great. She’s a big, she’s a big MAGA fan. Much better than Taylor Swift.”
“I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote. It is to inform people to do their own research and then make their best decision for them and their family. Every time I’m on this stage and I get asked these questions, I’m going to refer back to that because I think that’s what makes America so great,” Mahomes said.
He spent his Sunday at the US Open with his wife Brittany, teammate Travis Kelce, and singer Taylor Swift. Swift recently endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president on social media.
When asked about President Trump discussing his wife, Mahomes responded, “No. I think at the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people.” He emphasized the community work that he and his wife Brittany engage in, helping people use their voices and providing opportunities.
Mahomes stated that he cannot let political comments affect how he goes about his daily life and business, striving to live to the best of his ability. He acknowledged that people might use various topics during political times but maintained his focus on his personal and professional life.
Following Tuesday night’s heated debate, Taylor Swift, who is in a relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, publicly endorsed Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz for the 2024 Presidential Election, reported CNN.
In an Instagram post, Swift wrote, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” expressing her belief that Harris is a warrior who champions the rights and causes she supports.
