Columbus Blue Jackets player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were killed after the bike they were riding were hit by a car in Oldman Township in New Jersey Thursday evening. Johnny was 31 and Matthew was 29. The driver of the car, suspected to be drunk, has been arrested and charged with two counts of death.
Johnny Gaudreau’s team issued a statement expressing the shock and devastation of the tragedy.“Johnny was not only a great hockey player, but more significantly a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Meredith, his children, Noa and Johnny, his parents, their family and friends on the sudden loss of Johnny and Matthew.”

The Gaudreau brothers were set to take part in their sister’s wedding to hocket player Devin Joyce.
Gaudreau, known as “Johnny Hockey,” has played 11 seasons in the NHL. While he was about to start his third season with the Blue Jackets, the star played his first nine seasons with the Calgary Flames.
