US former President Donald Trump, in his new book which is scheduled to hit the market next week, accused Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg of sabotaging him during the 2020 election.
In his upcoming book ‘Save America,’ Trump wrote that Zuckerberg, on one hand, would meet him, and treat him well while plotting against him, Politico reported.
Under the photo, Trump writes that Zuckerberg “would come to the Oval Office to see me.He would bring his very nice wife to dinners, be as nice as anyone could be, while always plotting to install shameful Lock Boxes in a true plot against the President,” Trump added, referring to a $420 million contribution Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, made during the 2020 election to fund election infrastructure.
“He told me there was nobody like Trump on Facebook. But at the same time, and for whatever reason, steered it against me,” Trump said.
He also warned the Meta chief executive that if he again tried to do any illegal things then he would “spend the rest of his life in prison.”
“We are watching him closely, and if he does anything illegal this time he will spend the rest of his life in prison — as will others who cheat in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Politico quoted Trump as saying.
This came after Zuckerberg accused the Joe Biden administration of pressuring the social media giant to censor certain COVID-19 content on Facebook.
“In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain Covid-19 content, including humor and satire,” Zuckerberg wrote in a letter to the Committee on the Judiciary of the US House of Representatives.
And while it was Meta’s decision whether to remove content, he continues, “the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it.”
Trump has made similar remarks about Zuckerberg before. Trump wrote in a July post on Truth Social that if elected he would pursue “Election fraudsters at levels never seen before, and they will be sent to prison for long periods of time. We already know who you are. don’t do it! Zuckerberks, be careful!”
