Donald Trump has added both Robert F Kennedy Jr and Tulsi Gabbard — the two new endorsers of the former president — to his transition team. “As President Trump’s broad coalition of supporters and endorsers expands across partisan lines, we are proud that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard have been added to the Trump/Vance Transition team,” senior adviser, Brian Hughes, said.
“We look forward to having their powerful voices on the team as we work to restore America’s greatness,” he added.Earlier reports suggested that Gabbard was being roped in for Trump’s preparation for the debate against Kamala Harris. Tuli ran in the 2019 Democratic presidential primary against Kamala Harris.
What will Tulsi and Kennedy Jr do?
As honorary co-chairs of the transition team, Tulsi and Kennedy Jr will help Trump select the policies and personnel for the second Trump administration, if he wins. Kennedy Jr revealed in his interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson that he has been asked to go on the transition team to help them pick people who will be running the government.
Trump’s sons Donald Trump Jr, Eric Trump and running mate JD Vance are also in the team.
Both Kennedy Jr and Tulsi Gabbard had long associations with the Democrats. While Kennedy Jr’s decision led to a meltdown in his Democrat family that dissociated themselves from Kennedy Jr, Tulsi Gabbard said she’s supporting Trump because she believes that Trump will walk the country back from the brink of nuclear war.
Gabbard has long signaled some level of support for Trump, even while she sat in the US House as a Democrat. In 2019, she was the only lawmaker to vote “present” when the House of Representatives impeached Trump for his dealings with Ukraine. Gabbard was known during her four House terms for taking positions at odds with her own party’s establishment. She was an early and vocal supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 Democratic presidential primary run, which made her popular with progressives.
