Kennedy Jr’s voice is affected by spasmodic dysphonia resulting in a continuous tremble in his voice, he said in his earlier interviews several times.
Spasmodic dysphonia is a condition that affects vocal chords and Kennedy Jr was struck by in 1996 when he was 42 years old. It is so rare that it affects about one in every 50,000 people and women are more prone to it.
In an interview to Los Angeles Times early this year, Kennedy Jr said he can’t stand his own voice which is tremulous, choked and halting but in reality his voice is not tired, it just appears so because of the condition. “My voice doesn’t really get tired. It just sounds terrible. But the injury is neurological, so actually the more I use the voice the stronger it tends to get,” he explained.
Kennedy Jr said to have noticed that his voice was changing when he was teaching at Pace University School of Law in White Plains. “For years people asked me if I had any trauma at that time,” he said. “My life was a series of traumas so … so there was nothing in particular that stood out,” he said.
This is not the only medical abnormality that he has. In 2010, Kennedy Jr experienced memory loss and mental fogginess which was attributed to a tumor which Kennedy later referred to as a dead parasite in his head. He said a worm got into his head, ate a portion and then died.
Recently Kennedy Jr faced flak for an old photo with a skeleton of dog which he dismissed and said it was a goat.
