Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, is reportedly “reevaluating” her royal duties as she continues her battle with cancer. This news comes amid growing speculation about her future role within the royal family. According to sources, her ongoing treatment has led to uncertainty about whether she will return to her full royal responsibilities.
Middleton made a public appearance during Trooping the Colour, where she joined other members of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. However, despite this hopeful moment, there are concerns that she “may never return” to her royal duties, according to insiders cited by Radar Online.
Her appearance at Wimbledon in July had sparked optimism about her recovery and potential return to royal engagements. But a royal insider, speaking to Radar Online, emphasised that Middleton is still in the midst of a serious health crisis. Biographer Robert Lacey added that the public may need to adjust their expectations regarding her future involvement in royal duties.
“She is making a solid recovery. But we’re going to have to look at this in a different way going forward. In the past, people have said, ‘When will she be going back to work? Is she going to be full-time in the autumn?’ I don’t think so. She’s going to have to pick and choose how she completes her comeback, if there is a comeback in that form anyway,” Lacey said.
Lacey also noted that Middleton’s experience has led her to “realize how precious life is” and to focus on what truly matters to her and her family, particularly her children. He pointed out that Prince William, who has been deeply affected by both his father’s and Kate’s health challenges, is supporting her through this difficult time. “I think they have a right to decide how they want to do this. Catherine will be prioritising her children and supporting William,” Lacey said.
As for how the royal family might react to Middleton stepping back from her duties, Lacey suggested that they will ultimately support her decision. “She’s so important and so precious that the royal family will have to dance to her tune rather than the other way around,” he explained.
