The report said the Secret Service is investigating Wednesday’s mistake which was found out by the site agent during a last-minute check. They discovered that the particular agent was in the side room with several family members who were not vetted by the security.
‘All employees of the U.S. Secret Service are held to the highest standards. While there was no impact to the North Carolina event, the specifics of this incident are being examined. Given this is a personnel matter, we are not in a position to comment further,” Secret Service chief of communications Anthony Gugliemi said in a statement.
The report however cited sources who disclosed that security agents working a protective assignment are not allowed to bring their children. The room that the agent used for breastfeeding was reserved for potential presidential emergency, they said.
The woman was from the Atlanta Field Office and was in the side room with two family members. The agent and her family members reportedly avoided the Uniformed Division security screening and instead were escorted by staff into the room.
The Secret Service came under fire after the assassination attempt on Trump and former director Kimberly Cheatle resigned taking the responsibility for the agency’s failure.
