Minnesota Gov and Kamala Harris‘s running partner Tim Walz Tuesday delivered his first solo campaign in Los Angeles since he was picked the vice-presidential candidate and he took on Trump and Vance in the same speech. Trump and JD see the world differently than the working class.
“Vice President Harris grew up in a middle class family and picked up shifts at McDonald’s.Can you picture Donald Trump working at a McDonald’s trying to make a McFlurry or something? He couldn’t run that damn McFlurry machine,” Tim said.
Tim also addressed the stolen valor controversy raised by Ohio senator JD Vance accusing Tim of never going to war and bragging about carrying weapons in war. While Harris campaign said Tim misspoke when he spoke about carrying weapons in war, Tim said he is proud to have served the country.
“These guys are attacking me for my record of service. Let me be clear, I am damn proud of my service to our country. And I firmly believe you should never denigrate another person’s record of service. To anyone brave enough to put on the uniform of our great country, including my opponent, I just have a few simple words. Thank you for your service and sacrifice,” Tim said.
“With my dad’s encouragement — a guy who served in the Army during the Korean War — I signed by for the Army National Guard two days after my 17th birthday. Then in 2005, I felt the call of duty again, this time of being a service to my country in the halls of Congress. My students inspired me to run for that office,” Tim said.
“I saw the United Auto Workers had a name for Trump. They called him a scab. He went to Mar-a-Lago and told his friends ‘you’re rich as hell and we’re going to cut your taxes.’ Then he turns around and tells workers their wages are too high,” the Democrat VP candidate said.
