In the video, she was seen opening a container of her poop and then smearing it on her face like a mud mask. All this while, she put a clip on her nose to ward off the stench. “It’s worked for me and my skin has stopped flaking,” she said in her latest attempt to go viral. She also said she heard that this poop mask helps reverse ageing.
The container, meanwhile, was stored in the refrigerator and the influencer used her hands to apply it and then took it off applying some other cream.
Doctors have slammed the video and said there is no science behind this bizarre routine. Dr Sophie Momen, a consultant dermatologist at the Cadogan Clinic in London, told the New York Post that this has to be one of the strangest trends she came across. Instead of benefits, poop mask can do more harm leading to bacterial and viral infections, food poisoning, ‘redness and discomfort’.
“Feces contain a plethora of bacteria, viruses, and parasites, including E. coli, Salmonella and helminths, which can cause serious infections and diseases,” plastic surgeon Tunc Tiryaki said.
“Applying feces to your face can introduce these pathogens into your body through small cuts, abrasions or mucous membranes, leading to severe skin infections or systemic illnesses,” the doctor said.
Users commented on her video in disgust and reminded her that the body does not need the sh*t and it is full of toxins.
