60-year-old Tim strongly reacted to the ‘childless cat lady’ remark and asked, “He (JD Vance) thinks he needs to dictate that?” Vance along with some Republicans blocked the Right to IVF Act which was referred to by Hollywood actor Jennifer Aniston when she denounced the ‘childless cat ladies’ remark and said she hopes that Vance’s daughter does not face any fertility issue because Vance is anti-IVF as well.
Even before the controversy surfaced, Tim openly spoke about the seven-year-long fertility treatments that they underwent before welcoming Hope. “It’s not by chance that we named our daughter Hope,” he said. In a detailed description of how the process was, he earlier said that every time they hoped for good news, they were told the treatment had not worked.
In 2001, they welcome their daughter Hope and in 2006, son Gus.
“Gwen and I have two beautiful children because of reproductive health care like IVF. This issue is deeply personal to our family and so many others,” he said in reaction to the Alabama ruling which declared that frozen embryos are children.
“Even if you’ve never gone through the hell of infertility, someone you know has. When Gwen and I were having trouble getting pregnant, the anxiety and frustration blotted out the sun,” he wrote. “JD Vance opposing the miracle of IVF is a direct attack on my family and so many others.”
