Both are governors — Josh Shapiro Pennsylvania and Tim Walz Minnesota. Harris had not formally called Walz to offer him the position, a source familiar with process told CNN. During recent remarks at a ‘White Dudes for Harris’ fundraiser, Walz said, “How often in 100 days do you get to change the trajectory of the world? How often in 100 days do you get to do something that’s going to impact generations to come?” Walz asked.“And how often in the world do you make that bastard wake up afterwards and know that a Black woman kicked his a**, sent him on the road?”

- Tim Walz is a 60-year-old father of two. He is a moderate Democrat in Congress.
- Tim served as a representative for Minnesota from 2007 to 2019 and then the governor since 2019.
- A graduate of Chadron State College in Nebraska, Walz served in the Army National Guard in his early life and then worked as a teacher. He taught English in China in 1989 and is fluent in Mandarin.

- Tim was the faculty adviser for his school’s first gay-straight alliance chapter long before Democrats stood for gay rights.
