A lot of interest has cropped up over the private life of Donald Trump’s director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard because of her religion as she is the first Hindu American woman to be the intelligence chief of the US. Tulsi Gabbard is married to filmmaker Abraham Williams and the couple have no children. The Army veteran spoke about undergoing IVF treatment but in 2020 when she ran for president, she and her husband decided to discontinue the treatment entirely.
Abraham Williams is Gabbard’s second husband and Tulsi was previously married to Eduardo Tamayo, a businessman. Not much is known about Tamayo but the marriage lasted for four years and Tulsi’d deployment in war stressed that marriage.
In a 2013 interview with Vogue, Tulsi said she and Tamayo were childhood sweethearts and they were best friends. “His family was like my family,” she said. They were married from 2002 to 2006.
Tulsi Gabbard’s divorce with Tamayo took place shortly after she returned from an 18-month deployment in Iraq. “Sadly, Eddie and I became another statistic, another sad story illustrating the stresses war places on military spouses and families,” Tulsi wrote at that time.
Tulsi changed her surname to Tulsi Gabbard Tamayo for the few years she was married and in 2011, she wrote she was going back to her maiden name.
“I’ve recently resumed the use of my maiden name, Tulsi Gabbard. As you may know, my husband and I divorced a few years ago, shortly after I returned home from an 18-month long Iraq deployment with the Hawai’i Army National Guard. The deployment was very hard on my husband, and on our marriage. Sadly, Eddie and I became another statistic, another sad story, illustrating the stresses war places on military spouses and families. I had kept the Tamayo name in the hopes that we might still have a future together. However, recently I’ve come to fully realize that that’s not going to happen. Eddie and I are still friends, and I’m grateful the Tamayo family continues to welcome me as one of their own,” Tulsi wrote in a note.
“I will personally be paying for any costs incurred for reprinting City Council brochures, signs, business cards, etc. There will be no cost to the City or to Honolulu taxpayers. So if you get a letter or call from Tulsi Gabbard, or see me on the street, please say hello. It’s still me,” she wrote.
Tulsi Gabbard and Williams got married in 2015 in a spiritual Hindu ceremony.
