Matt Gatez resigned from Congress soon after he was announced as Trump’s attorney general pick nullifying the sex trafficking ingestion against him. The investigation effectively ended Wednesday when Gaetx resigned from Congress. Now he is not under investigation but the House Ethics Committee is facing pressure to release its report that it prepared after three years of probe. The committee Friday canceled its meeting in which it was to be decided through a vote whether to release its report or not. Now with the meeting canceled, it seems the report will remain under cover like Gatez’s many other controversies.
It’s not known why the Ethics Committee canceled the meeting.
To become the attorney general, Gaetz has to get confirmed by the Senate which many Republicans rule out as highly unlikely.
Woman said she was 17 when Gaetz had sex with her
A woman testified to the House Ethics Committee that Gatez had sex with her when she was 17. The investigation into Gaetz began in the final months of the last Trump administration with investigators examining whether Gaetz violated federal sex trafficking laws. A variety of federal statutes make it illegal to induce someone under 18 to travel over state lines to engage in sex in exchange for money or something of value. It was not known how Gatez met the girl.
Gaetz courted several controversies, and once called abortion activists ‘ugly’, ‘overweight’.
Gaetz’ sister-in-law called him weird and creepy
Even before Gaetz’s marriage to Ginger Luckey, Lucket’s sister posted three TikTok videos calling her future brother-in-law as “weird and creepy” and “a literal pedophile”.
Roxanne Luckey, Ginger’s sister, said she “unfortunately was not surprised” to have learned Gaetz was under federal investigation for alleged sex crimes. “I saw the character and type of person he is, and when everything came out about him, I honestly, unfortunately, was not surprised,” Luckey said.
Ginger hit back at her sister and said she had a history of destructive behavior.
