A married couple recently stabbed and shot each other to death in a violent altercation inside their home in Washington, US, while their 11-year-old son was in another room, playing video games.
Unaware of the incident as he wore earbuds, the son discovered his parents dead on the kitchen floor and called 911. However, emergency responders were unable to revive them. The incident occurred a few weeks ago during Halloween.
The victims were identified as Juan Antonio Alvarado Saenz, 38, and Cecilia Robles Ochoa, 39, according to a New York Post report.
“Detectives have since learned Alvarado Saenz and Robles Ochoa ‘had relationship issues and intended to separate,’” the sheriff’s office stated, as quoted by New York Post.
Alvarado Saenz died from multiple stab wounds to his chest, while Robles Ochoa suffered both stab wounds and a gunshot wound.
Authorities recovered a knife and a gun from the scene. The firearm was reported stolen from Alvarado Saenz’s employer, with the theft only discovered after the incident.
The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office is investigating but has not yet determined who initiated the violence.
The couple’s son is now in the care of family members, according to New York Post.
