The Republicans Friday called Liz Cheney ‘Lying Liz‘ after she took a potshot at former president Donald Trump for saying that Cheney should be put with a rifle with nine barrels shooting at her. The GOP campaign said Trump did not call for her execution as that is what many headlines Friday said. MAGA supporters trended ‘Lying Liz’ and said Trump called her a warmonger and called for sending her to war.
The Harrus campaign press release said: “In case you weren’t up past midnight Eastern Time. Donald Trump sat down with Tucker Carlson in a late-night town hall where he suggested that Republican Liz Cheney should face a firing squad.”
What did Trump say?
“She is a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing three with 9 barrels shooting at her. Let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face,” Trump said. “You know they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, ‘Oh gee, let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy,” he added.
How did Liz Cheney react?
“This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant,” Liz Cheney said. The Republicans condemned the use of “death” in her reaction and claimed Trump never wished for Liz Cheney’s death — what Trump meant is ‘war hawk’ Liz Cheney should be sent to war, otherwise the warmonger Democrats will keep on sending troops sitting in Washington.
‘Trump fantasizes about putting Liz Chenet in front of firing squad’
The Republicans slammed the media headlines that villainized Trump. The headlines cited for the criticism included Rolling Stone’s ‘Trump fantasizes about putting Liz Cheney in front of a firing squad’; Daily Beast’s ‘Trump fantasizes about shooting female rival in the face’ etc. The Republicans also slammed CNN for “full scale disinformation campaign” on the issue.
