Elon Musk’s SpaceX achieved an engineering marvel on Sunday as it launched a super heavy starship rocket and then caught the descending first stage out of the sky using its giant mechazilla mechanical arms. Congratulatory messages poured in for Elon Musk while social media users observed that President Joe Biden or vice president Kamala Harris did not issue any statement praising the feat of Musk who endorsed Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in the November 2024 election.
“Will the Biden/Harris administration congratulate @elonmusk and @SpaceX for accomplishing in America—and for humanity—what is perhaps the greatest feat of engineering since the moon landing?” a viral post on X read.
“It is a disgrace that Biden/Harris have not issued a formal congratulations for this unprecedented accomplishment. Failure to do so is petty, grossly partisan, and un-American,” another wrote.
Elon Musk had a clash with California as it rejected Elon Musk’ request for more frequent SpaceX launches from the state’s central coast and it cited Elon Musk’s politics as the reason for the rejection. The California Coastal Commission on Thursday voted 6-4 against the US Space Force’s request to allow SpaceX to increase the number of launches of its Falcon 9 rocket at Vandenberg Space Force Base from 36 to 50 a year.
Elon Musk said he would file a suit against them for violating First Amendment. “Incredibly inappropriate. What I post on this platform has nothing to do with a ‘coastal commission’ in California!,” Elon wrote on X.
Elon Musk has not only endorsed Donald Trump but is pulling out all the stops to make Donald Trump win. Elon attended Donald Trump’s rally at Pennsylvania and is also eyeing a plum post as a department head in Trump administration, if Trump wins.
Donald Trump mentioned the SpaceX feat at his rally speech as he said, “Did you see the way that suc**r landed today? He is our friend…and we want our friend to be successful. He’s really been our friend, right? So Elon’s rocket coming down…”
Former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy compared Elon Musk to Benjamin Franklin and wrote: “We live in a 1776-like moment in America & there’s little doubt that @elonmusk is the Benjamin Franklin of our time.”
