Vice President Kamala Harris‘ campaign announced that over 3,60,000 individuals have volunteered to support her in the upcoming presidential race against former President Donald Trump.
Harris, who is expected to be officially nominated as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate at the national convention in Chicago next month, would make history if elected on November 5. She would become the first woman, Indian-American, Asian, and Black person to hold the office of President of the United States.
The Harris campaign has seen a surge in support, raising an impressive USD 200 million in just one week, with 17,000 new volunteers joining the cause.
Dan Kanninen, the Battleground States director for ‘Harris for President,’ said, “We continue to see enormous enthusiasm around the Vice President’s campaign. Over USD 200 million in less than a week, two-thirds of which came from new donors. Today, we’ve got 360,000 new volunteers and counting.”
Despite the overwhelming support, Harris acknowledged the challenges ahead, saying, “We are the underdogs in this race, but this is a people-powered campaign and we have momentum.”
The campaign plans to scale up its efforts in both the Blue Wall and the Sunbelt states, recognizing the multiple paths to securing the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.
