A section of Republican senators are privately eager to see the FBI file on Tulsi Gabbard not only because of her alleged alignment with Russia but also for her previous stand on Edward Snowden. Tulsi Gabbard’s name has to be cleared by the Senate before she becomes the director of national intelligence and many Republicans like Nikki Haley are not on the same page with Gabbard.
Punchbowl News reported that many Republican senators have privately discussed their interest in viewing Gabbard’s FBI file.

“This is done for each Cabinet nominee but the implication is that the documents could reveal previously unknown information about Gabbard, including possible foreign contacts,” the report said.
As of now, however, they are treating Gabbard with deference and not criticizing her publicly. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), an Intelligence Committee member, said to Punchbowl that he has “no doubt that she’s a patriot,” but he wants to question Gabbard on her posture toward Russia.
Tulsi Gabbard openly pushed for the US to “drop all charges” against Edward Snowden in a 200 bill that was co-sponsored by former Republican Rep Matt Gaetz. Gaetz has already withdrawn his nomination and Pam Bondi is the new pick for Attorney General.
The Senate Intelligence Committee which will process Gabbard’s nomination find Gabbard’s support for Snowden concerning.
Former ambassador to the United Nations and 2024 GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley openly countered Tulsi Gabbard and said Tulsi Gabbard defended Russia, Syria, Iran and China in past. “DNI has to analyze real threats. Are we comfortable with someone like that at the top of our national intelligence agencies?”
“She tried to limit Trump’s war powers against Iran. She tried to cut our annual defense budget so that we couldn’t punish Iran and hinder their influence,” Nikki Haley said.
Tulsi Gabbard has close relationships with senators in both parties and she will begin her formal meetings with senators after Thanksgiving. Getting cleared by the Senate does not seem to be a problem for Gabbard, unlike Matt Gaetz.
