Joel Leppard, the attorney pursuing the case against former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz, who will become the attorney general if cleared by the Senate, revealed that Gatez paid two women more than $10,000 for sex. ABC News reported records of several payments from Gaetz to the women between 2018 and 2019 each between $200 and $650. The notes for each payment had words like ‘gifts’, ‘reimbursement’, ‘love you’, ‘joy’ etc.
The attorney is hell-bent on dislodging Gaetz from his new position and is creating pressure on Congress to publish the investigation against Gaetz. Before the contentious report was supposed to be published, Gaetz resigned from Congress as his name was already announced by Trump as the AG. It is yet to be decided whether the report will be published as Gaetz is not a Congress member any more.
Gaetz denied all the allegations against him involving a 17-year-old.
Gaetz sexual offence case: Here are the new details
- Gatez was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old woman whom he paid. The DoJ investigated the case and did not press any charge against Gaetz. But the lawyer of the two women who testified before the House Ethics Committee is pursuing the case as Gaetz is on the cusp of becoming the attorney general.
- The lawyer revealed that his clients — the two women — have numerous photos which they submitted to the probe committee.
- The two women claimed that they were paid to travel across state lines to New York to watch Gaetz appearance on Fox News’ Outnumbered, see the Broadway show Pretty Woman: The Musical, and have sex with him. One of them was a 17-year-old at that time.
- The women claimed they testified that they sent Gaetz nudes from time to time at his request and also on their own accord.
- Gaetz’s friend Joel Greenberg was convicted of sex trafficking and was sentenced to prison — in the same context but Gaetz was not charged.
- Gaetz paid the two women once from the PayPal account of his ‘adopted son’ Nestor.
